Even in the best relationship, problems may arise. When certain difficulties clash, both men and women are inclined to cheat on each other. However, the motives for sexual slip-ups vary between the two genders.
First of all, the hard facts: According to an anonymous survey by GLAMOR, every second man cheated on his partner. In fact, it is 51 percent – and the tendency is increasing. However, the number of women who live in a relationship and take faithfulness not very seriously should also not be underestimated. According to the survey, 39 percent have already preferred another man to their partner. Casual dating websites and escort services make it possible. And ever more people are lured into infidelity.
Why do men have affairs?
When it comes to children, it’s the darn seventh year. In relationships, it’s the third. Because in the third year of a relationship, the tendency to infidelity increases massively. But what moves men to cheat – besides the relationship duration?
One of the main reasons for infidelity is sexual dissatisfaction. If the man does not get enough sex, he will soon act out his urges differently or with another woman. Four out of five men say that too little sex is the main reason for their infidelity.
There are two other reasons that tempt men to cheat: loneliness and boredom. If couples live apart from each other – over a longer period of time – the men’s desire increases. However, boredom is a different story. In this case, the husband is tired of his partner and looks for new adventures.
Another interesting fact: Men like to give in to temptation. If there is an opportunity for infidelity, they often use it.

This is why women have affairs!
The GLAMOR study shows that men are often guided by their instincts. For women, things look different: They look for affection in other beds for emotional reasons. No wonder, then, that the lack of closeness is one of the main reasons for cheating women. Because for almost every second woman emotional closeness is as important as physical contact.
Another reason for women to share a bed with another man is the search for self-affirmation. If the partner fails to pay enough attention to his wife or girlfriend, sooner or later she will flee into the arms of another man.
The most surprising reason for an unfaithful partner, however, is another. If the partner’s immune system is too similar to that of the woman, after some time he seems less appealing. Men with divergent genes are more interesting to the ladies.
Other reasons for unfaithfulness
Cheating also has biological causes. For example, men tend to cheat on their partners five times more often when they are pregnant. Women on the other hand are more prone to infidelity when they are ovulating. Estrogen and testosterone are released and promote pleasure.
