Men in their mid-20s are usually pretty to look at – no question about that. But I’m off the trip of looking for dating partners my age. Instead, I now focus on men 30 plus. They finally know what they want and usually feel the need to set the course for the future.
The problem is that classic dating apps tend to attract singles between 18 and 30. Of course, there are also older singles – but the choice is much smaller.
Since I had no success with my dating apps, I decided to look for an alternative. And I came across the Viennese singles community TALEJA. It doesn’t hurt to try it out, I thought to myself. And so, it wasn’t long before I had my first date with Frederik, a 34-year-old lawyer.
It was as if we were soulmates
Everything went wonderfully. We met in front of the cathedral in the heart of the city – but because it was pouring with rain, we went straight to a cute café. We harmonized perfectly. My impressions from our first chat were confirmed: we only had things in common. There was not one unpleasant pause in the conversation. And we also had a lot to laugh about.
After we had each drunk our third latte and more than two hours had passed (it seemed like 10 minutes to me), we wanted to move on. But the rain did not let up. That left only the classic single question ‘Your place or mine’. And because he lived only a few minutes away from the café, we made our way to his flat.

His flat was in a beautiful old Viennese building. It’s hard to believe that there are really people who can afford that. I was amazed when I entered his modern home. He had chosen light wood and lots of light. A dream of a home. And then it was also his property.
So far, Frederik had held back with compliments – which made him super likeable in my eyes. I’d rather be a charming man than a young guy handing out artificial compliments. But as we sat in front of his fireplace with a glass of wine – yes, he had a fireplace! – Frederik just had to say what a pleasant voice I have.
I was almost a little embarrassed, but pleased that we were climbing from a friendly level to a flirting level.
In front of the crackling fire and a little tipsy from the bubbling drink, we moved closer together. Then, looking into his eyes, it happened: we kissed. Hot and intimate. As if we had been waiting for this for years.
The rest of our date in Vienna was quite tingly. The kiss built up so much that we fell into his bed, tightly embraced, and spent a few more hours together there. His touch, his scent, his tenderness – it was all just perfect.
I have not regretted my choice of the 30 Plus Men. I hit the mark right away with Frederik. We still meet regularly, have fun – and see where the journey takes us. The main thing is that it stays exciting.
