Hands up: Who doesn’t think much of Valentine’s Day?
For me, Valentine’s Day is a day like any other. Made up by companies who want to sell more flowers, chocolates, greetings cards and the like.
Love at the touch of a button? All nonsense, as I like to say as a Viennese.
Don’t get me wrong: I love dating. But I don’t like artificially induced romance.
And yet: I didn’t feel like going out again this year without a date on the so-called Day of Love. A nice restaurant visit for two would be great. But without all that tacky stuff.
So what did I do? I registered on a dating site that focuses on flirting and having fun. And I was successful.
Nailed it directly with the dating portal TALEJA
I’ve tried all the classic dating apps. And I really mean all of them! They’re too monotonous for me. And you usually ALWAYS see the same faces. Even if you switch apps. You might think the singles market in Vienna is tiny.
But it’s not! You just have to look for singles in other places.
So I created an account with the dating community TALEJA. And lo and behold. On February 13, I had a date for Valentine’s Day. Just in time.
We met in front of the Vienna State Opera.
He met me in a casual outfit with chinos and a casual jacket. Although he was already 45, he had the vibe of a well-off 35-year-old. That was also the reason why I wanted to meet him – despite the age difference. I had just turned 30.
I greeted him with a gentle peck on the cheek. Finally a relaxed single guy in Vienna. That’s how open I like it.
Dinner at a high-class restaurant in Vienna
Two singles in the big city. Childless. And ready for anything. Today we wanted to treat ourselves to something special.
For our first dinner together, we decided on The Bank Brasserie & Bar www.restaurant-thebank.at/en
Beforehand, we drank the legendary Tom & Sherry. My favorite drink. Then we had pike-perch and halibut.
The food was delicious. But to be honest, I only had eyes for him. He was so stylish. Even the way he filleted the fish was just pure aesthetics. I’ve never experienced that on a date in Vienna before.
Had I already fallen in love shortly after meeting him in person?
Sensual night in the attic
We had great conversations. Laughed together. And laughed at the bored-looking couples who only went out together because Valentine’s Day forced them to.
It was wonderful with him. So refreshing! I could just be myself.
Pretty. Stylish. And an amazing character too. I wanted to go home with this man.
And we did.
He took me to his super chic top-floor apartment in the Bermuda Triangle. The trendy district of Vienna. And my personal hot spot.
He had already chilled the champagne. He probably knew that I would come home with him. He definitely had confidence. But that also impressed me.
Singles from Vienna who have found each other
The Gentlewoman enjoys and remains silent. But this much can be said: we had the perfect night together. It wasn’t just him, but I also got everything I needed. I’m sure you understand what I mean.
One thing is certain: We’ll be seeing each other more often now. Not for kitsch and romance. But simply for a really, really good time together.
